This guide was made specifically for Leica programs and microscopes. The microscope we used to create this how-to guide is the Leica M205 C, consisting of z-stacking capabilities and a motorized column for effortless imaging.
Annotation Tools
You will see three boxes on the top left corner of your screen.
Click on the first box on the left to open up the Annotation Tools.
When you open the Annotation Tools box, you will find a variety of tools for annotating the images, from measuring the specimen to drawing arrows and typing notes or labels.
Under the Properties tab, you can customize line color and thickness and label font, color, and background.
Under Configuration and Templates, you can create new configurations and templates for your annotations.
The leftmost icon is the Selection tool.
To use the Measurement tool, select the 2nd button from the left.
Draw a line across the part of the specimen you intend to measure, and the software will denote how long the line is.
*TIP: Hold the spacebar down to zoom in on the endpoints of the line.
You can change the color and font of the text box under Properties.
If you want to delete measurements, use the Selection tool to select the line you want to delete and click on the trash icon.
To use the Arrow tool, select the 4th button with the diagonal arrow.
Click and drag to draw an arrow. The first spot you click on is where the text box will appear.
Double-click on the text box to type out the label. The Properties drop-down menu allows you to customize the box’s color and font.
To delete any annotations, follow the same instructions for the measurement tool.
