This guide was made specifically for Leica programs and microscopes. The microscope we used to create this how-to guide is the Leica M205 C, consisting of z-stacking capabilities and a motorized column for effortless imaging.

Scale Bar Properties

To create a scale bar, click on the Scale Bar Properties button located to the right of the ‘Annotation Tools’ button.

This will then open the menu to create and manipulate the scalebar.

We recommend selecting Adaptive Mode (top left). This will allow the scale bar to adjust as you zoom in and out.

You can choose the scale bar’s size, thickness, foreground/background color, position, and style from here.

Note: When you switch between light and dark backgrounds, you will need to adjust the scale bar’s color accordingly to ensure it shows up.
