Section 4: How to Image Specimens with Different Features

By: Jaclyn Harvey, Diane Hardy, and Nate Kingsley

This guide was made specifically for Leica programs and microscopes. The microscope we used to create this how-to guide is the Leica M205 C, consisting of z-stacking capabilities and a motorized column for effortless imaging.

When imaging different specimens (in this case, seeds), you will encounter an array of diverse morphological features. Some seeds are covered with hairs, while others are glossy; some are microscopically small, while others are so large they barely fit under the microscope; some are see-through, and others are covered with hooks, spikes, or grooves.

These different features will change the imaging process using the Leica M205 C microscope and software.
